She moved out!

Two weeks ago, the weird housemate moved out!

I awoke on a Tuesday morning to the sight of her stuff packed in those blue plastic bags of hers and neatly stacked on a trolley. Her parents were also here and they helped her to pack, move and clean her room.

I was a little surprised because I didn’t expect her to move out so suddenly, and without warning. But she did do one weird thing on Monday evening - before leaving:

 DSC01738DSC01739

Cellophane-tape secured tissue paper lock! (Not available in stores)

When WZ went to ask the accommodation staff, they said that she accused us of stealing her book and RM5. RM5! Why would I steal RM5?? Wanna steal might as well steal more right?? And steal her book? Hello, we’re masters students lah! Anyway 99% of her stuff is in her room, and her books are never outside. Oh and that would explain the ‘lock’ she put in the pics above. It wasn’t the first time she moved apartments tho, because the staff told WZ that she has moved so many times that they’re used to it d. And everyone complains about the same stuff – tissue bits, water everywhere, excessive washing of hands.

We told her nicely to try not to wet the kitchen floor after she washes her hands (which takes around 5 mins – or more! - and a few roundtrips from kitchen sink to room). And because she wears slippers in the apartment, the apartment gets dirty really fast – because her room is filthy with tissue, hair and dirt on the floor! Usually I have to clean the apartment every few days because its so dirty!

I think the reason she moved out is because i used her mop – she doesn’t like people touching or using her things. I only used it because she wet the kitchen floor really bad and the other mop was wet. After she saw that I used the mop (I left it near the kitchen sink for convenience) she kept her mop back with her pail, covered it with a blue plastic bag and then put it with her other stuff near the shoe rack! Wahh super powerful ahh that blue plastic bag can deter ppl from using ur stuff wan! sweat…

I guess she hasn’t found housemates that are usually not around, minds their own business and doesn’t really care about the cleanliness of the apartment. I’ve seen really gross apartments, and maybe she should stay with them…anyway, so relieved I don’t have to worry about tissue bits, water droplets and dirt everywhere anymore :D

Hopefully she didn’t freak out the new housemates…haha

Internet Addict

Hi, my name is Phoebeeee and i'm an internet addict.

I'm typing this post at Starbucks Mines but using KFC's free WiFi. Hehehe...hebat onot? Internet speed is so much faster than Old Town. Came here after having lunch at Old Town South City. Lots of ppl using the wifi there so i came over here. After all, parking here is RM1 per entry, so its affordable :D But Starbucks is not...hahaha...oh man...

I noticed that I tend to get stressed when there's no internet when there should be internet, or if the internet is slow. I am crazy!

Are you an addict too? Take the test here!

Back to drinking my caramel frap and surfing the net! :D

Supposed to finish up my assignments and study for 2 upcoming tests...i'm so lazy!!! Wanted to do them slowly over the holidays...but ended up lepaking most of the time :P

See you later…

Those were the last words I spoke to him…on Wednesday before Techflow started. But I didn’t join them after class finished that day. Suddenly it’s Sunday and he’s missing. And then it’s Monday and he’s gone…

Gary Leon Robert, my favourite Chindian, passed away a month ago due to extreme dehydration after a marathon.

One of the statistics.

It was so sudden…so unbelievable…

Especially on the day I had a job interview…and he would’ve been one of those I would look forward to tell ‘I got a job!!’

I don’t have many close friends, and I considered him a really good friend of mine…we had so much fun working together during Christmas Night 07 & 08…and in Techflow…

We all wonder why this happened, especially to one so loved by all…

But I guess God loved him more and we are blessed to have known him…

I don’t have a brother, but he was like a brother to me…annoying at times but also supportive and full of encouragement…

I miss getting forwarded messages or replies of forwarded messages from him…

I miss the greeting ‘Chindian!!’ followed by a big hug whenever he sees me…

There’s so much more I could say…but words escape me.

When he was doing his industrial training, we chatted almost every day….talked about all kinds of things…and we even talked about MJ’s sudden death…

Now all we have of him are memories that we will cherish…until we meet him again in Heaven! :)

Follow me

Follow Me, by Phil Ware - Heartlight, 30 July 09

"Why would God let this happen to me? I've tried to be faithful to Him,
but all this has happened and I'm not sure what I can believe anymore?"

Sound familiar? I've heard it many times. I've even said it a few
times. And underneath the statement is a misunderstanding: if I do this
for God, then He is going to do something for me. While we rarely say
it so bluntly, the idea is there in the back of our minds. In fact,
this mindset is often preached and taught in our churches. If we say
the right things and do the right things then God has to do our
bidding.

The problem comes when bad things happen to good people -- when folks
who have been faithful to the Lord have bad stuff happen in their
lives. And the bad stuff can be really bad stuff -- execution, murder,
abuse, financial ruin, bad health, sickness, family troubles ...

I deeply believe that God loves us, hears our prayers, cares about us
personally, and often provides protection. I also confess that I do not
know how all of that works. In a broken and flawed world with broken
genes, broken relationships, broken weather systems and a creation
subjected to decay, how does God's providence and personal care fit
into the processes? In a world where people live in rebellion to God
and do evil things, why are we sometimes miraculously protected and
other times vulnerable to attack? In a world where evil reins and is
sometimes entrenched in political systems, why are some spared
persecution and others are executed for simply handing out a copy of
the Scriptures? Why does God miraculously heal some folks in response
to prayer and other times the physical healing does not come?

Our quick and glib answers often do more harm than good. Righteous
people can be devastated when they suffer yet have been assured their
spiritual formulas guarantee God's preferred response. The struggle to
understand the mysteries of unjust suffering, persecution, and disaster
go back to the earliest times of human literature as the book of Job
shows us. So we must be careful about simplistic answers to
historically profound problems and deep, personal wounds.

Behind all of this mystery must be a humble faith admitting that true
and final answers are beyond our mortal reasoning. For example, Peter
is spared martyrdom and rescued from Herod's clutches while James is
executed (Acts 12:1-17). Clearly God was at work in both situations,
but one ends up in martyrdom and the other in deliverance from prison.
How do we understand this?

Did Peter pray a better prayer, a more proper prayer, or live a better
life? Absolutely not! On closer examination, the early Christians were
not praying for deliverance from persecution so much as they were
praying for boldness to proclaim Jesus in the face of persecution (Acts
4:1-36). This example of early believers reminds us that underneath the
immediate issues of unjust suffering and persecution are two deeper
issues.

First, we must recognize that God cannot and will not be manipulated by
formulaic prayers or spiritual exercises that supposedly assure that
the worshiper will be blessed. God is God. He is sovereign. He knows
what we don't know. He is at work for deeper, Kingdom level issues on a
global scale over the course of history. Persecution, martyrdom,
suffering, and unexpected death are not the result of our failures to
pray properly or from God's lack of love and concern. But that still
leaves us with an unfathomable mystery that we cannot fully solve.

Second, God does respond to our prayers and does care for us deeply.
There are times and moments when God does miraculously deliver from
harm and bring healing. However, the goal of our faith is NOT to
control what happens in our lives, but to offer our lives in service to
God and the work of the Kingdom. If we follow the Hero who ends up
being crucified unjustly and unfairly, then we too -- as we follow Him
-- will face unfairness, loss, ridicule, persecution, and even
martyrdom (Luke 9:23).

The Gospel of John ends with a simple exchange between Peter and Jesus.
Jesus has just confronted Peter about his failure and restored Peter
back to ministry. Then Jesus warns and challenges Peter:

"Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself
and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch
out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where
you do not want to go." Jesus said this to indicate the kind of
death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him,
"Follow me!"

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was
following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus
at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?")
When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"

Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what
is that to you? You must follow me"

(John 20:18-22 TNIV).

This encounter suggests that Peter wanted to control the outcome and
significance of his life in comparison to the Beloved Disciple. Jesus
warned Peter that in his latter years, he would face crucifixion just
as his Lord had faced crucifixion. Peter wanted to know what would
happen to the beloved disciple. Jesus didn't really answer him. He
simply said, "What is that to you? You must follow me."

And this must be our response to the uncertainty and the mysteries we
face. The very fact that Jesus would leave heaven, live on earth,
endure the cross, and surrender to death for us is a reminder of God's
great love for us (John 3:16-17). Like Job of old and the apostle Peter
and hundreds of thousands since them, we are challenged to trust in
God's unfailing love while at the same time, surrendering our lives to
God's purposes.

Jesus looks at us and still asks, "What is that to you? You must follow
me."

The following questions are for your personal reflection, for sharing
in a small group of friends, or for use in a home gathering. I'd also
love to hear from you on my blog and see what you think about this
message and these questions:
http://www.thephilfiles.com/2009/07/30/facing-evil-among-us

Jesus looks at us and still asks!

How does God's love and promise to be at work in our lives for good
impact our understanding of the above discussion? (Romans 8:26-29)

What does it mean to be love God and to called according to His purpose
in our lives? (Romans 8:28)

Does Jesus prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane have any implications on
our understanding of this issue?

"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this
cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will" (Mark 24:36)

Does Paul's prayer for the removal of his "thorn in my flesh" and yet
God not taking it away shed any light on this subject?

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he
said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made
perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly
about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me (2
Corinthians 12:8-9).

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I don't know about tomorrow,
I just live from day to day.
I don't borrow from it's sunshine,
For it's skies may turn to gray.
I don't worry o'er the future,
For I know what Jesus said,
And today I'll walk beside Him,
For He knows what is ahead.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

Ev'ry step is getting brighter,
As the golden stairs I climb;
Ev'ry burden's getting lighter;
Ev'ry cloud is silver lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eyes,
At the ending of the rainbow,
Where the mountains touch the sky.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

I don't know about tomorrow,
It may bring me poverty;
But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
Is the One Who stands by me.
And the path that be my portion,
May be through the flame or flood,
But His presence goes before me,
And I'm covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow,
I don't seem to understand;
But I know Who holds tomorrow,
And I know Who holds my hand.

Ma voiture

My car has been making some kind of noise near the RHS front tyre. Only when I stop at traffic lights. Like something is scraping against something...don't know what's wrong tho...I didn't hit anything or change anything...probably have to go see the mechanic sometime soon...and again there's the problem where the bottom of my car scraping certain bumps/humps (mainly at the main gate and the second hump on the way from murni to coit)

I wonder if I wrote a letter to the people in uni to make some of the bumps (humps?) lower so that the bottom of my car doesn't hit it..will they do anything about it?...sakit hati la everytime i hear the scraping sound at the bottom...:(

Alternatively, maybe i should increase the car's rear height? But I only encounter this problem in uni...

We left for my house in the afternoon, and stopped by Gopeng to visit the museum that opened in April. You can read more here. It’s a shoplot and there are lots of antique stuff there. There’s no entrance fee, but you can donate if you want to :)
